The Planning Commission reviews site plans of all construction projects including city capital projects, reviews rezoning and land use requests, and prepares, adopts and maintains the city's master plan. The Master Plan is a policy guide to aid decisions and planning within the city for those matters affecting the physical development of the city including: streets, transportation, housing, parks, capital improvements, land use and development, and utilities.

The mayor, city manager, one council person, and six additional city residents make up the nine-member commission.

Applications for various development projects are reviewed by this commission. Application filing fees are nonrefundable and payment is required with the application. The applications and filing fees, are as follows:

•  Site Plan Review--$350.00*

•  Special Land Use--$350.00*

•  Planned Unit Development--$350.00*

•  Site Condominium--$350.00*

•  Subdivision Plat--$350.00*

•  Rezoning Request--$350.00*

•  Special Planning Commission Meeting--$700.00*

*Applicants will also be charged for non-typical legal fees and expenses, for consulting fees and expenses, and for other professional services if they are incurred by the City of Zeeland in the review or evaluation of an application.
