Fire Department

Responsibilities


The Zeeland Fire Department is responsible for fire prevention, public education and awareness, life safety, fire suppression, hazardous material management, fire fighter training, fire investigation, and environmental protection.

We are responsible for protecting a heavy industrial base where employment exceeds the City's population and we also protect the CSX main rail line which bisects the City. Property in Zeeland is valued in excess of 1 billion dollars. Our water storage capacity is 9.5 million gallons of which 2 million gallons is elevated and 7.5 million gallons is in ground storage.

Staff


Personnel includes 32-part paid Fire-Rescue members of which all are on call 24 hours a day.
